Best Destinations
Here are some of the places my family and I have visited for a reduced price. Click below to see how my husband and I used credit card points to get there.
Favorite Credit Cards
There are a lot of cards out there. So where to start? A look at some of the cards in my wallet right now, plus the pros and cons of each card.
Best Credit cards
Chase Sapphire
60,000 point sign-up bonus
$95 annual fee
This card is probably my favorite because I can do so much with it. I can transfer points to numerous travel partners, such as Southwest and Hyatt. Plus, there is a $50 annual hotel credit and so many other perks with this card.
The typical sign-up bonus for this card is 60,000 points after you spend $4,000 in the first 3 months after you open the card. Some Hyatt hotel rooms can go for as low as 12,000 points per night, which means you could get up to 5 free Hyatt nights just with this one sign-up bonus.

Disney tickets
Flights to Disney are easy enough to find for free. But little did I realize that we could also get free tickets to the parks. Some of my favorite podcasters, Kim and Sam from The Disney Points Podcast, showed me how to do just that. I listened to them, worked that credit card magic and learned how to get four days worth of park tickets for me and my family of four for FREE!
Get cheap
I could buy meals for three people at Panera Bread for $44.80. I could spend my morning at the local trampoline park for slightly more than $44.80. I could buy a pair of nice new leggings for $44.80. Or I could buy FOUR plane tickets to Disney World for $44.80! I never in my wildest dreams would have believed this was possible until I started to learn about travel hacking and points. There were some wonderful bloggers who taught me the value of the Southwest Companion Pass. I had never heard of the pass before and didn't know it existed. But it is a travel game changer!
how to take your cheap trip
Here are the steps that will help you to plan your first tri using points and miles.
Why points and miles
Using points and miles is not for everyone. Only use points and miles if you know that you will pay your credit card off every month. If you pay interest on the points and miles, the trips that you are able to take will not be worth the interest rate that you will be paying. However, if you know that you WILL pay your credit card off every month, here are some of the best perks of using points and miles.
